Im not sure about lillies, I like them myself as well. I think though that lillies require not alot of water movement, they almost have to be in stagnant water. So if theres movement in the tank from the filter(s), it might irritate the plant. I am not sure though. But WildFya is a good person to ask about plants.

If you like that just get some high powered lights, dose some ferts, but don't add any source of CO2. That's what that kind of algae most often pops up in.

I'm you're trying to get in the planted game, it can be as simple or as hard as you want. There's an analogy I often use for new people of comparing plants to cars.

That's the best beginners explanation I can think of to help you get going in the right direction.
 
Lillies will do fine as long as the water current doesn't pull the surfacing leaves under. Just remember that the lilly will block out most of the light to the rest of the plants under.
