I usually let them sit on top of the tank and let them dry up...never smelt anything bad from them I only have one as my dog got a few and tore them up pretty good not much left in them they were all pretty hallow it seemed like. Ill post a pic of my little endilie that i have.

Mine is shiny even without those fungus actually turms them like that. You should have boil it in alcohol so when you dried it up in a warm place the fungus won't grow. You should have also scrub the tiny layer of skin and slime on top of the scales as when they get dried it will give that pale color.

Yeah it really sucks especially for the sp. koloton as the skull wasn't in good shape when it got sucked in the FX5. Just wondering how much pain it suffered trying to escaped.
