I want to thank everyone for their support with thank you's, well wishes, and financial aid for our five year in the making plan. Sometimes these types of projects can take years before they are able to be brought to the attention of the masses which is why we haven't mentioned it previously throughout the years.
Our facility designs have been carefully planned down to the finest details and the sacrifices my family and I have had to make in order to implement these plans are far beyond anyone can imagine.
I am sure most of you see or question "how can this be the world's first and largest" and I will try to explain this the clearest I can but keeping it simple at the same time. Take a plan that focuses on the whole and not the individual, build it for five years straight, privately fund it with no outside help raising over 50k in doing so, and keep it from the sight of the public. Now to me that would sound like a start to something in that making, but it just doesn't catch my attention quite yet. Now add the place of operation, in this case Brazil, and add well respected politicians along with other officiates and things start moving...but still don't speak of this plan or project publicly just yet. Work with web developers, lawyers, and other private groups that have cost you over 30k from your own pocket, and now the project is in a place that it can start being discussed openly with others. There is now something worth mentioning and discussing and this is where we are today. A process of building one of the only privately financially backed and sustainable facilities of its size and kind takes time. Still not convincing on its size...I agree but maybe this will help. Add the fact that the facility we are in the construction phase of measures 95'x75'x18' and is just for the main breeding research center. This does not include the at-risk species' isolated facilities on the property. Those will be in the measurement area of 30'x20' and will be for one species dedicated to their own needs. Take that and multiply it by how many we decide to build and you will see how many we could possibly be working with in and outside our property's borders. Hopefully you can now understand the aspects of its working size. All of this is with the mindset of dedicated reseachers and hobbyists showing the world how, with dedication, they can make a difference from a plan that comes from the point of view of the professional private keepers like you and I, and not from the Universities and governments who seem to have different views of how things should be built. I support this hobby and this is my contribution to it and all its private keepers...a place you can physically interact with and be part of. Now you would have my interest in something like this and I hope we now have yours.
We are still working on the fine details and will be in Brazil over the next few (2-8) months finalizing with property owners and politicians and working out all the other small and large objects that come our way. So please understand there are things we are not going to mention or debate about concerning our plans or projects. I know many of you may wonder what this place/project is about and have many other questions that may follow. I completely understand and respect this. We will answer questions the best we can to all who ask. With something of this size and proportion I would too, so I will try to give you a quick rundown. This facility is designed to be the first example of its kind due to its off-grid and sustainable features that will be incorporated into it. We will be utilizing solar and wind power and rain to fulfill all our needs keeping this place completely off the grid and cutting our carbon footprint in this fragile eco system. This facility not only incorporates the amphibian conservation program, it also involves a handful of other conservation efforts as well to help support it. Some of these projects will include...indigenous tree farming, medicinal plant research, horticulture of both ornamentals and edibles, and many more that can be left to one's imagination. Our facility will employ locals and offer educational programs to both government and outside officials for proper future management plans of the flora & fauna. This is designed to be a working hands-on facility open to all groups. We are designed to be a new way of conservation that focuses on the whole and not the individual. We will be providing funding that will be generated by these projects to local schools and providing a chance for the people of Brazil to be fully involved in these programs so one day they can carry on the work we started years previously and pass them on for generations to come. By building this facility and its programs, we are providing a lifeline of opportunities for others who seem to have a very questionable future ahead of them. We all seem to want to save the species, but how can we save the species without saving the homes they live in first and providing a rock solid foundation to do so. I truly believe by focusing on the bigger picture we will eventually have what we all seek...a future for our frogs that are in the wild and in this hobby. Without their homes, we are left with absolutely nothing to work from. There will be ups and down with this project and we are prepared for this. From these, we will learn and better our efforts as we go. We have been given an incredible opportunity to have a place to work from in Brazil and we invite all to follow our journey as we go. I hope that we can come to a common understanding that as a community, we have the power to make a difference. It's up to us to seek it out and fight for it.
I truly hope this can help straighten out any confusion that may be lingering. We are at this time not posting photos due to political reasons and requests but will be keeping everyone updated as news comes in.
Because we have not build a site or posted much over the net, you will not see much on this. We are giving this and other communities a first glimpse of our plan outside of closed doors. In late September to middle October you will be seeing our presence in photos and further discussions throughout the world. Stay tuned!
Thank you once again for all your support.
