Just heads up, Brazil has supposedly banned certain types of pleco in the last week. Once I get more details from my exporters I will have more info. Anyone else heard about this?

Yes; the ban has technically been up (in theory, not practice), since last year,or, depending on who you ask, as early as 2006. Anyways, thus far, pretty much all hypancistrus and pseudacanthicus, amongst others (but these are the most notable) are banned from Brazilian export until they are officially described.

Most likely its all ark and no bite IBAMA is a little paranoid:irked:

IBAMA is the government enviromental protection agency for Brazil (amazon) initially created to stop illegal deforestation and timber export.

its too bad... fish hobbyists aren't the problem, it's the dams, deforestation, and loss of habitat that are killing off these species

Removing fish from the wild has a direct effect on the wild populations.
