Honestly I get tired of all the people whining about the price of black rays and even other rays. They're not cheap anymore, so suck it up. No amount of complaining on this forum or any other is going to change that.
And to all these people who talk about 'wanting' some of the really nice marbles that are available - put your money where your mouth is or stop complaining. Money talks. When people in Asia put up the money, who do you think is going to get the fish? I know of someone who just about gave away 5 10-14" 'Royal' marble motoros for under $250 each and took a loss on them because there was no interest. And when I had a couple different types of marbles for sale (that I imported myself) I broke even because when it came time to put their money where their mouth is, it didn't happen. The fish are available out there, you just need to put out the cash.
I personally think opening up Brazil to stingray export would be just about the worst thing that could happen for the rays. There would be such a rush to catch as many rays as possible for fear that the ban would start again, that the health etc of the rays wouldn't even be a thought when they're caught and shipped. I also doubt you'd see any for under $1000, and since there is such high demand in Asia few people in NA would be still willing to cough up the benjamins and pay whatever the going rate is in Asia for them.
