Brazilian baby black aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
um..i'll try to get some live brine shrimp and/or blackworm/bloodworm tomorrow..
where you get yours from?

Never fed my baby aros(7) anything but freezedried bloodworms to start. Once they are about 3.5-4" you can start feeding pellets. If live works then go for it, but seems like an unnecessary hassle to me

If your raising in a 10g make special care that your water params don't vary. Baby blacks are very sensitive to ammonia, and nitrites along with temp and pH swings.

thanks, I plan on do small WC every day, like a gallon or so.
how long can they go without food? I could keep using FD bloodworm until it start eating but don't want it starve to death.

I always kept some guppies or neon tetras in the tank until the aro gets a bit bigger and eating consistently. They are fragile when just off egg sac

I added some plants and let them floating around, turned on the light, the aro seems much less skittish now swimming around even when I'm right in front of the tank.
dropped in some FD bloodworm right in front of it and it ate them all.
made a "feeding ring" with air tube so hopefully it will make removing the uneaten food easier. I'm so excited.

Cool if its eating the freeze dried your golden just keep it goin a couple times a day. I probably got mine from the same guy you got yours. He is the only one bringing them in right now.

yea it's eating the freeze dried bloodworm.
it's eating like a pig, I need to control not to over feed, lol. have the urge to feed every time I go to see it.
I was thinking the same thing too, it's gotta be the same guy cuz when I went pick up my fish he told me the other one is for someone else (and you just got it yesterday too) other wise I would've bought that one too.

Got mine yesterday too. Same setup 10g tank hob filter. Feed it live brine and blackworms. Introduce everyday, he'll come around to eating

Updates, from either of ya?

Mine going strong packing on the size. Feeding him freeze dried bloodworms and he taking a little of live black worms. Once it is hitting the blackworms hard, then this thing should start blowing up

Mine was doing great until had problem with the tank, and it didn't make it afterward. :(
suppose to get an other one next week, will see how that turn out.
