Brazilian giant millipede...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well... It's not too easy to keep, nor too delicate. Not the most reccomended for beginners. This species is not parthenogenic, AFAIK, and I don't know how to sex them. A friend of mine knows, so I'm gonna ask and post here. ;)

It's a BIG critter, but I love the colors and the evil-looking eyes... :naughty:

Yes, it IS poisonous. If grabbed or stressed, it releases a fetid fluid (ocre-colored) from the flanks. It smells real bad and stains the hands. Not too easy to get rid of too. Well, as long as you don't grab or BITE it, no problem.

Oh, Ewurm... Why do you keep watching these topics about centipedes and millipedes? Seems that you like to suffer... :FIREdevil

Best regards.

Daniel.

Cool Pictures of the Bug Daniel!!

Giant millipedes can be found from $6-$30 USD depending on species, I think that one is sold as a yellow legs for around $12, here are a banded @$8 and a ruby @ $12

AFAIK they don't bite. I really didn't know the price tag of one of these because I just caught this specimen myself. :D
Thanks everyone for the kind words... And I'm NOT gonna squash it, BTW. ;)

Best regards.

Daniel.

Most millipedes are easy to keep. a lidded container, a dish with a wet sponge some leaf litter and bark, some moss (damp to keep the humidity up), and veggie scraps and a tiny bit of flake fish food or crushed cat food to eat and they should do fine. Just be prepared to clean out any mold that starts to grow.

it looks kool

but i wouldnt touch it tho
