bread for fish?

i wanted to feed the bread to an ever hungry festivum of mine

I feed it to my pacus and they love it . I just try to use the whole wheat and whole grain breads. Mostly only white breads are bleached and processed. Also I put stuff in the middle like a freeze dried cricket in bread ball. They won't eat crickets by themselves but if their in bread they will. I also put vitamins and such in the middle as well.

I still wouldn't do it, I can see little pieces of bread reaking havoc in the tank. Lets see what Oddball says.

one time i walked past my tank while eating a piece of bread and i decided maybe they would want some too. they seemed fine to me afterward but it mostly breaks up and makes a big dirty cloud. but if you want to i say go for it because it doesnt hurt them.

 I can't resist laughing over the confusions.:D

I've tried the bread before but haven't gone to it since then. Nothing wrong with the fish here after consuming bread crumbs when I tried it. But that was because I am too careful to make sure there will be no leftovers.:D The last time I did it was 4 years ago.:)

Bleached processed flours are out. Whole grains are OK OCCASSIONALLY. Any breads containing yeast can cause fermentation in nice wet warm aquariums. Usually, the fermentation will go unnoticed until the water turns to weak vinegar and your fish die. This process can be very quickly if the same tank fed bread is also fed fruits (simple sugars).

when I think bread, I think "expand in water" / in fish stomache... then.... BLOAT..... I could see that NOT being healthy... maybe once in a GREAT while for a tiny snack or something...
