oh my god will my wild caught senegal grow that big?

Just keep hoping but most bichirs that were caught from Lake Turkana grow bigger than any other bichir in other region. That sene was caught from Lake Turkana.

I've been wanting to get some bichirs from lake Turkana but I can't just find a person who deals with bichirs there.

I got 7 of them too. Came from Nigeria and I'm still growing them out. Hopefully thay can surpass my 13.5"+ sene and it's a captive breed too.

Got mine just a few months ago and they were all at 5-6 inches. Now they are all at 8-9 inches.

I'm 100% convinced that most bichirs will grow much bigger and faster than we give them credit for when not confined to small tanks. I bet if you took a bunch of those captive bred ansorgii and grew them out in a big pond (a few thousand gallons or more) somewhere warm, did regular water changes and fed them well you'd end up with 2'+ monsters in a few years.

Here is probably the biggest polypterus palmas palmas that was ever caught. Close to 20". (Not my pics, came from a japanese site)
