Breaking the cardinal rule

If you use a bottom dweller it shouldn't mess with the Oscars swimming space. If it were me I would get a male convict. They are beautiful little fiesty fish. GL

How big is the oscar? For dithers use the giant danios.
I kept an oscar some time ago in a 55g alone, up until he was about 10 inches, then he went into one of the 125g's. He was healthy in the 55, good filtration, and the h2o was kept pristine. I know many say no to an lone oscar in the 55, but mine was fine until moved.

hehe senegal bichir :))

I have an oscar in a 55, he is still small but this will be his permanent home.
In there with him I have 5 giant danios. They are quick and school great.
Time will tell if oscar decides they are lunch or not.....I think they will be fine though.
You could also try 3 silver dollars, but they get quite a bit bigger than the giant danios.

Get a 75Gal + tank first and then think about getting more fish to go in with your Oscar , a 55 is a little too small for 1 Oscar with other fish .

Theres a few to think about , but if i was you i would get a 75 or even a 120Gal tank first then persanaly think about getting 5 - 7 Silver Dollars and get a Pleco or a nice large school of Clown Loaches . :)

I'd say get a 180Gl tank first.
Dude, if this thread continues somebody will suggest flilling the livingroom with water, those tank idea's for our friend keep growing.
But really, i run a 180 with one oscar and the bigger tank keeps boredom low!
I got 6 Silver Dollars allways swimming near or with my O.
Very nice fish, but indeed they grow big!
Any way to upgrade your tank?
Your oscar will like it very much and be thankfull.
