Ive got a 250 gallon pond in my garage thats empty. I was thinking of stocking it with either 6 bream or a ton of minnows. Does this sound good. And are bream and bluegill the same thing. Ive read things saying they are different. Ive always caught fish at my lake that were known as bream. Ill probably catch some next time I go down there(4 hours) and stock with those). Thanks

Growing up, when we went bream fishing, it mostly just meant bluegill, but we'd catch 'shellcrackers' and green sunfish. Common names can sometime cause problems, but basically, 'bream' refers to many of the sunfishes (Bluegill, redbreast, redear, etc, etc). So look into the various Lepomis species for your pond. You will likely need some significant culling to keep your pond from getting crowded. Same if you were to stock minnows like fatheads. A 250 fathead pond could supply you will a ton of feeders (if you have the need to feed large predators).

If its indoors them add a heater and stock it with some badaas tropical fish not saying coldwater is awesome. I just don't know of any cw preds that won't eat your stock

Crappie would be good, I plan on getting a white or a black for my 55 this summer.

go with bluegill. They are much calmer than warmouth imo. They can be downright nasty at times.

Are you sure your not getting Warmouth confused with Green Sunfish or Rockbass? Its a very common mistake. Warmouths are usually peacefull (except around food and at breeding time). Clemsonguy I really like your native Redbreast sunnies, not as aggressive as a Greensunfish yest they have more color and markings than most Bluegills and would do well in a 250g. You could even have some stonecats or other madtoms in their with them.
