Bream Pond

Is that the water temps or air temp. I dont know how well Spotted Sunfish would do with water temps under 35 degrees f. .....spotteds, Bantams and Redears are from the Southern part of the US, and because ive never kept them I would not recommend them at those temps. Northern Longear, Redbreasts, Rockbass, Warmouths and Pumpkinseeds seem to do the best at low temps, especially if theyre from that area, but I dont think they would live for a extended period of time in the 90s (many cichlids cant handle water temps in the 90s for extended periods of time) I would check your water temps before stocking.

That air temps. I really like the idea of a ton of fathead minnows too. Is 4 bluegill out of the question?
I take that back you could do a Spotted sunfish pond as long as you have a small heater to make sure the water temps dont get below 40degrees. Yeah you can do fatheads or Bluegill.....a $20 fan facing on it will keep temps down in the summer. If your going to go for minnows I would look at shiners and topminnows (rainbow shiners, redbelly dace, Bluefin Killies etc.) or at the very least Rosy reds (they were bred from fathead hybrids).

Thanks, are fatheads easy to kill or is it just the short lived thing.
Fatheads spawn as many as 12 times in a year and live up to 3 years. In nature they can lay from 4000-12000 eggs in a spawn. Fatheads along with Bullheaded and Bluntnose minnows have the male guard the nest untll they hatch. Rosy Reds are just a Pimephales hybrid that was bred to bring out the red color, and will work just as well.
