I have a group of sunfish (Lepomis) in a 6' 180g tank... and it's frankly too small. They are quite territorial.

Well I would imagine it would be different if you were keeping it in its own tank vs a community tank. And yeah I can definitely agree that they have allot of attitude packed into a tiny body. Used to watch em chase off largemouth almost 4-5x their own size just to protect a nesting area, no eggs included. Granted they have been on the decline here since the bluegill and green sunfish keep over populating and taking over their breeding grounds. Sad to see what was once a common specie here slowly dwindle away. Used to catch em almost everytime I went fishing but these last 15 years I've only caught em once every other year, haven't caught any in the past 4 years.
Btw if ya don't mind me asking, how's your tank setup? I'd love to see what style tank ya went with with those lil guys.
I have a big piece of driftwood as a sight break and a few other small decorations. There's also a yellow bullhead in there (at about 12")
