I believe that running anubias w/shrimp is a myth, because I have had anubias in with my shrimp for over a year and have had not one dead shrimp,Java moss and Moss ball both are good suggestions I both, they really like the java moss especially when breeding,The only thing I have notice with shrimp in general is that you really have to watch the copper intake,ie food,meds etc,it will wipe out your whole colony...
 
what kind of filter/sponge setup can I use to breed shrimps in a 10 to 20 gallon tank?
Please give me some suggestion on what to buy, thanks.
 
Any sponge filter with an airstone should be fine for breeding shrimp. A powerhead powered one would probably produce a bit too much current. As for plants, any moss is usually a good recomendation, as the young shrimp can use the moss for cover and they are able to graze off of it.
