hey all i just bought 6 5 star generals after wanting some for ages and ages... they are very rare here in the uk! i have put them in my 35g and im hoping to get a breeding pair/ group. has anyone any experience breeding these and any helpful tips. im guessing i will have to remove the others once a pair forms? i will throw up some pics as soon as they settle, they are only about 5cm and had great colour already at the lfs!-)

I tried the same thing a few years ago. I bought five babies, within a couple months only two were left. Mean little fish they are. The two survivors were the same sex and did well for a few years in a 350 then one day the small one was dead, it was a solid six inches. The only one left is in a 150 with silver scats, he pretty much leaves them alone. Good luck in getting a pair.

No joke about it, I had one hide in a stump for over a year. I thought the fish died and disappeared. After a year I pulled the stump out to rearrange my tank and heard a squeaking noise coming from the stump. The little guy was stuck in there. I was able to fish the little guy out with some coat hangers. He was less than half the size of the other one that didn't get stuck, they were about two inches at the time and the bigger one was over four. The small one quickly caught up in size. I ended up selling one of them. It's been over four years now and the one I kept is closer to a foot. Look hard he's probably in there somewhere.

im thinking of selling my wyckii cat so they may go in my 300 in due course, hoping i end up with a pair though, sorry it didnt work out for you bud? anyone else had similar experiences?

Best of luck breeding these. Adults are fine looking and rare. I have only seen one adult at a local fish store. Hard fish to come by over here. I see babies popping up once and a while.
