Breeding activity on Atabapo pair

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am also in the burbs outside of philly. Abington/glenside area. The pair is in a 180 gal. With about 20 giant danios swimming non stop. I have about 5-6 pieces of driftwood and some pvc. I just purchased a RO water machine and I use a 55 gal trash can to hold the water in with a heater. I will do my first soft water change tonight. But only like 15-20%. Thanks for the info on marms because I have a breeding pair of them also and the female has a belly full of eggs too. So maybe I can spawn both in the near future. That's why keeping lugubris pikes are my favorite because it's a real challenge and it test your fish keeping skills. I wish Cincta were available right now. I would love to work with them also

Nice sounds like you're on the right track. Live food helps stimulate spawning too. Also a large cool water change with heavy live food feeding can stimulate spawning.

You have a breeding pair of marmorata?!?!? How much fry do you have?

No I meant a bonded pair not a breeding pair of marms , I wish. Lol but I'm only working with hard to breed fish in this hobby from here on out. I'm done with the easy stuff because it presents no challenge to me and makes my passion for the hobby decrease.

Just curious did you buy the marms as a pair or grow out a group?

I brought the marms as a pair. And I grew out a group of Atabapo pikes and got a pair from the group. To me the best thing to do is buy a group about 5 or better and small , grow them out and they sooner or later pair out or stay in a trio. I have a group of 5 lentics that are in a 125 pushing around 7"s.

Cool. Where did you get the marm pair and the smaller lents from? Most of the lents I see are quite a bit bigger.

I got them from George Fear

I was afraid you were going to say that. I was eyeing that pair lol. I think the lents you bought are the ones posted in a different thread that got IDed as Venezuela
