Question:
Someone mentioned to me I may have gotten lucky and have a very genetically sound EBJD bc he/she is growing so quickly and its temperament is more aggressive than most EBJD, closer to a regular JD. They also suggested I should try and breed him. I have never on purpose bred anything. I have danios that spawn like crazy and I sucked some up at a water change and have been raising in a fry tank, but that is my extent of baby fish raising/breeding.
I'm going to do a lot of reading on this before I even think about trying this, but any advise would be appreciated!!!
I have an empty 55 gallon would that be sufficient size for the couple if I did attempt or would I need larger? How do you go about finding a true blue gene to pair it with? And is there any way to sex the one I have now?
Thanks guys!!!!image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Also, he is currently in a 125 gallon. Didn't want anyone to think I keep it in a tiny tank since I asked about the 55 gallon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it hard if not impossible to breed EBJD? I am pretty sure if they do, they won't be EBJD. From what I understand you need blue gene JDs for that.
But IMO you could possibly do a 55g for EBJD. Gorgeous fish btw.

I am by no means an expert! But, from what I've read so far, you cannot breed 2 EBJD together, fry will be too weak and die. You can breed an EBJD with a BGJD and get viable fry. Or breed 2 BGJD and get some EBJD fry. Or breed a BGJD with a JD and get even fewer EBJD fry.

There is so much conflicting information out there on this topic, I really don't know what to believe on the topic. Kinda why I'm asking on here. Hoping someone has some first hand experience. Thank you for the compliment on my EBJD.

I agree. I don't have any 1st hand experience, so hopefully someone who does will chime in.
