I generally look at the rear spine on the dorsel fin which are more pronounced than the females that I have in the tank, the bottom dark band around the eye region (mask) is thicker & darker (both females in this tank have a thinner line when in breeding dress), and if all fails net the fish out and vent them under bright lighting. Hope this helps.

I have the an empty 125, 55, & 40 breeder for the fry to grow out when they are ready. I'll keep you guys posted.
