Breeding arowanas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've seen it done in aquariums but as stated they need a lot of space. It is best to start w/ a group of six or more to guarantee that you'll at least have a viable breeding pair. Arowanas' mainly reach sexual maturity at 3 years of age.

Here's a vid of an asian arowana pair spawning in a tank.

Anyone Breeds arowanas? I would like to know everything about and hoping to be able to breed arowanas in the future after getting educated and fully ready to do so. Pics would be great too, love seeing pics of multiple arows..

Any particular TYPE of arowana you're thinking about?

Arowans can breed when they are 24+" long and breeding is possible but not likely to happen in home aquarium unless u have a big enough pond or tank.

What if he provides adequate space, he never stated if he had a big enough tank or was going to provide one

No need to be pessimistic and attack the OP. Just give him info

Im asking for information, needs techniques, anything related to breeding arowanas so in the future I can try to do so. Its clear that you would need a large pond/tank for arowanas to pair up. I believe its possible to do at home its just how educated I am on breeding them and get all that is needed ready for it.

The types I would breed is (because I live in USA) the legal ones for where I live.

So if anyone has any other tips much would be appreciated. Again its for the future I want to educate myself on the subject. Thanks
