good luck :)

and when and if they do breed.... the fries..... dont sell for cheap, gotta keep these beauties' value up cuz i know neither of us would want our fish to be worth less , rite ? xD

Lol, if a lot of people start doing this then they will def drop in value. alot of them has been going around so i bet a decent amount of people are going to start trying to breed zullies.

Btw, Good luck Mike!

as true cichla lovers you guys should want the azuls to become more readily available especially CB so the wild numbers arent depleted. if you just want yours to remain high in value then that is just sort of greedy i would say.

I applaud this project and wish you the best of luck.

Never bred Cichla, just wanted to say good luck!!! What you're trying to do is really awesome!
I agree, you have a better chance than most to be able to pull it off.

You make me sad sometimes :( CB Azuls in my opinion would be worth MORE than Wild for a minute. They would be F1's from wild stock. I mean are you insinuating that My monoculus are Worthless.... Maybe you should invest in an illegal arowana... This way you don't have to post silly headed stuff like this :(

I really like you.. But sometimes you are seemingly more concerned about your money than your fish :(

I think a hgher price is necassary too.. BUT NOT TO SAVE YOUR BUTT! You have no clue about the cost af breeding and raising the fry... At first theprice could be double the cost of Wild.... ;)

Your main concern is the worth of your fish. isn't it? This is the at least the second time you have mentioned it......

I definitely agree with this statement but it got me thinking. I used to work at one of the LFS around me. The amount of fish that are lost just in this hobby is staggering at times. I used to be all about getting wild caught stuff but the more I've thought about it, the less I like it. Let's face it, the environment is bad enough as it is, and in most SA/CA countries, deforestation and encroachment of humanity is making for a very bad situation in the "wild". So the last thing we need is to make more of an impact on natural habitats. How do you really put a value on an animal/fish anyways? You can ask "Well what's it worth to you?", but when you think about that question it should send flags up in your head. So I applaud your efforts on trying to breed these wonderful fish. Fishkeeping is like anything else in the world, anyone should have access to it, as long as they can provide the fish/animals they want to keep a proper environment, proper nutrition, and have the dedication and passion to care for them, it should not be reserved for the "wealthy".
I for one love these fish, you may have seen me asking on the Buy/Sell Forums for people selling them. I really love these fish, but at $150+ for one, its out of my price range. Now I'm not whining I don't have enough money to buy them, its simply a matter of not only does captive bred make for more availability to interested fishkeepers, but it takes pressure off their wild counterparts.

Just my 2 cents...

sorry guyz :| didnt mean to sound so greedy ... i guess it is good that more people will have a chance at these beauties... but i'm just concerned that if it gets too cheap , everyone ( especially people who can't take care of them ) will get em .... then that would be sad...

and no tongue, no offense to ur mono :)

not my main concern ... just dont want inexperienced fish keepers ( not u :) ) to have access to these beauties if they do get that cheap, cuz thats bad for the fish ....
i do admit though, i m a lil concern bout my money though xD cant say im not, cuz i did gave up my chance to get a new computer .... not like u guyz that get a salary, i dont, i have to save up slowly from lunch money x_x so money to me mite possibly be of more value to me than to u ...

again sry guys if i sounded too greedy all along, just wanted to say wat i said in an attempt to ensure the wellfare of future azuls

i would think that breeding cichla would be similar to any other cichlid. fairly easy provided they are in the proper set up. big fish big tank. goodluck and put me on the list for when you sell off the fry.

I think we should be seein Some wigglers within 6 months :) The Swuammi told me :)
