10 gallons is perfectly fine for breeding bettas, I've breed em successfully in a 5 gallon. Just make sure you condition the male and female at least 2 weeks before attempting to breed. I usually use a ten gallon filled halfway and a divider which can be anything from a glass sheet to a vase filled with water inside of the ten. My Bubble nest cover usually is just a styrofoam cup cut in half and taped onto the tank to keep it from moving and disrupting the bubbles. Although I have used almond leaves and banana leaves I like the cup haha remember, some males are horrible nest builders and lazy parents and a lot of those males never get it right. So if you are not successful then you can always try a different male. And IME the actual breeding process is a very short process that only consists of a few hours to a day. The male squeezes the eggs spurs them into the nest you catch the female put her into a hospital tank and that's that. Then you wait till fry are free swimming and you take the male out. They eventually start free swimming half a day to a day later and by that time they are done eating the yolk so I recommend feeding the daphnia or finely crushed flakes and pellets. I don't feed brine shrimp until the second week. Cause some are too small to even eat the shrimp. Betta fry are very fragile so as soon as they are free swimming and the male is taken out I usually go to only 30% of the tank full and add a small sponge filter. As long as you don't overfeed you won't need to many water changes at this age.
Expect at least 50% to die off before the third week. Their colors should really come in by 4-6 months. But I hope i helped haha wat type of bettas are you breeding?
