I have a 12-13 inch Black Ghost Knife Fish that is about 3 years old.
Just before Christmas I thought "Mr Wiggles" was dying - he went off his food, had a strange silver glisten across his body - but all was well - about 3 weeks later "Mr Wiggles" became "Wiggles" as she lay heaps of eggs. My question is - does anyone know how often they lay eggs and if I put a small male in the tank (assuming I can accurately sex them) are there any special requirements.

Sounds interesting... Any pics??

Not much is known about their breeding. Sometimes hobbyists have several massive BGKs in their tank and "find" more, but they never see the eggs.

I think you ought to find another male of the same size and try to breed. The problem is, however, it's impossible to sex them, and they'll fight if you get a pair wrong.

thanks.. thought I might get a small one and grow it up - hoping it would prevent the fighting - they don't seem to take very long to grow (in real terms)

im sorry man, i can not see any of the eggs.
