Breeding Bristlenose

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also have a tank u can put the adults once the babies start moving around. Then I would change the set up for the babies to sponge filter and moss for them to feed on and hide in. U will have a ton of babies in each batch so its good to have a few options. Hope this helps. My Bristlenose bred at 3 to 4 inches.

Aaah gonna have to hold off the breeding of the bristlenose, my kribs decided they wanted to have a go, (well my female was constantly doing her little dance) so they got the tank instead.
ah well, maybe soon, or maybe just get another tank =D

Anyways Nyght you asked how to help induce breeding?

BN's usually breed in the rainy season which is Novemberish.. The flucuation of water temp tells them the right time. When it rais the water temp drops lighting the light blub. Sounds like you have a fairly big tank.

I would first try doing a bigger then normal WC and see if anything happens, If it doesn't try dropping 2 trays of Ice cubes into the tank. The key is to try to make them comfortable and mimic their rainy season. I would also try to feed them some blanched vegs or try changing their food a little. I don't believe I seen what you have been feeding them.

Also when dad is guarding you might not see him for quite some time, in my exp I would let the fry stay with dad and see how it goes. Also with any new parents it might take them a few times, the good thing is once they breed once you know 99% of the time it will happen for a second time!

Anyways buddy good luck and any more question can be directed at me through PM. I will be happy to try to help.

will do mate, but they appear to be breeding in the display and the kribs have the other tank, so just going to let them go for a while, and play god in a while :)
