I have a Bonsai flowerhorn and was in a community tank but since shes small compared to the rest she wasn't getting a healthy diet of food so I got her a tank to herself. She was doing excellent and I added a male to her tank. She got her breeding dress and her tube swelled. Its been a few days and I was thinking she was going to lay eggs but this morning I saw ick on her. Before I left for work I added some salt and ICK meds.

They have been aggressive with each other but for the past few days they been okay.

I am pretty positive its ICK and there was no ICK last night. Its just on the female Flowerhorn not my male. I am going to treat them for a week or so and then after a few months add him back to the community tank just for good measure.

Can stress from fighting and spawning cause ICK? When I get back from work I have a divider already I will be putting in so she doesn't get any more stressed out. She is small shes 2-2.5 inches but at that size for a bonsai they can lay eggs. Male is roughly 4-5 inches.

This is her normally in the first pic

Second pic
This is how she is when I added a male
"breeding dress" I thought it was stress but it's been like that for a week now and from the looks of things they get a long now

Also raise the temp. People will debate how high but I always raise mine to about 90 degrees unless I really start to see them stressed.

Yeah I already raised the temps that's the first thing I did! I am going to separate them tonight so nothing else happens to them.

temps above 86 for ICK, 90 is fine. they be hungrier than usual and more active/aggressive but not hurt them.

Hello; I do not see ick in either picture. Often easiest to see on the fins. I do see what might be some white areas on the body in the second picture. Not clear about it though. Could it be some thing from courting activities? (rough spawning behavior)

be leave he stated that the pics where not of the ick, just showing the stress of the fish, either way cranking up the heat will not hurt the fish.

Yes the pics have no ICK! It's just the stress guys and I've dealt with ick before the heater is at 88 degrees right now and medicine already put and salt added. It'll go within a week or two
