breeding clown fish

Yeah while cool for something to do and is a very good accomplishment raising the babies is hard and very time consuming. Unless you have plenty of time and arent looking to make money (coz you wont) ide just let nature take it course in the tank. Its free food for your other fish and corals if you have any.

i think breeding any kind of fish is great. Once you master easier breed fish IE cardinals and then moving on to clowns is a great accomplishment. Keep us posted in the furtue about any attempts or anything. Im very interested to hear about the actions you took. Good luck

YA I'm planning on breeding clarkii clowns. Right now I only have one and I think the pet store ordered a false percula clownfish. My mom told them to wait till next week but I wanted her to tell them I’ll be changing my order. Well if I get a false percula to breed with my clarkii I’ll let everyone know what poops out. I read that the babies come out of their eggs on the 7th - 14th *~*NIGHT*~*. And that they do not like light until after a few weeks old. There for the babies need to be placed in to a 10 gallon tank that has been painted black with a cover to keep light out. DON’T FEET THEM. They will eat the micro bugs in the water. After a few week start to open the top just a LITTLE to light a LITTLE light in. And everyday open it a LITTLE more. ALSO to get the fish into the breeder tank turn off all lights in the room and on the fish tank, then use a flash light to shine over the tank, the fry will swim to the light, so all you need to do is scope them up.

OPPS i lied you feed them Rotifers. On my first try im going to use both boild and un boiled eggs and also fish flakes i made in to powder. I know these work with other fish but i want to see if it will work with clown fry sents no one has told me anything i guess ill have to find out myself

well i was reading up on them some more and my fish are ready to breed and everything but i have to remove my shark catfish b/c he is too aggresive

ANY crab or shrimp will eat the eggs unless the clowns lay them up high on the glass or something like that. BUT if the eggs are on the sand or live rock REMOVE THE CRABS AND SHRIMP ASAP. Eggs are another food source for them and they will be more then happy to take advantage of the eggs. HOWEVER some times clown fish are known to attack anything that get by their eggs even kill shrimp. But still I would remove them to be safe.
