Do you know if it was a single female that spewed out the many thousands of eggs, or more than one female?

four Clown loaches, which are around four or five years old and 14-20cm in length, had started acting strangely and were cruising around the tank in mid-water.

The largest fish, a 20cm female, was being followed around the tank by three males

Aha...yes, that old forum problem - people replying WITHOUT reading! Haha!
Carluke (where they spawned) isn't that far from me. Need to look into this as my Clowns are a similar size and about to be rehomed into a bigger tank which will be mainly theirs. Can anyone remember how you sex them? I read about it a while ago, but fogotten the details. Something to do with tail shape....

Wonder if any have hatched.....

Just read through the threads/posts on LOL and PetFrd - looks like none of them hatched. Theory is that in disturbing them, the female aborted the eggs. Bummer.

A quick look at the oocysts will tell you they are all over ripe. They have all separated from the membrane wall. Just ripe eggs have off center neucleus and immature eggs have central neucleus.

I have spawned clown loaches with hormone inducement and they seem to breed more regularly and easier over time with successive spawns. Ive noticed this too with othe species (synodontis for example). Perhaps each captive bred generation get easier to spawn? Khuli loaches are being naturally spawned now too.

So by moving the Loaches, he delayed the spawning and that's why they're over ripe?
Wonder if he knows that?
