breeding convicts in a 20gal?

If you read the post I made about substrate for my convicts, according to some of them, convicts will breed in anything, haha, so I 20gal I think would be plenty. But this is the first time I've tried breeding anything.

just give them a cave and clean it frequently, and dont put anything but the breeding pair in it or they will most likely kill it, because the female will stay near the young and protect them, while the male patrols their territory, which in a 20 gallon would be the rest of the tank. and make sure you have some kind of speacialized fry food, I use fry bites. then id feed them frozen krill when they get to about half an inch long, makes they're colors come out faster. its fun to watch them tear at it too. and you shouldn't have to separate them till they get bigger. cichlids are very good parents they wont harm them

You don't need any special kind of food. I have raised a few batches of fry now. They love crushed up flakes.

fry food is a bit on the fatty side it helps them grow faster and its really small so you dont have to crush flakes. but the krill i give to everything its great. made my silver aro turn greenish gold kinda, he loved krill

It really just depends on the cons. They may be fairly mild in attitude but don't be surprised at all if the male kills the female if she hesitates at breeding time.

I've seen them breed in as little as a 1 gal tank, so in a 20 you can even put a divider if the male roughs up the female
