I have been trying to breed convicts for awhile now. they have there own 55 gal with caves and plenty of hiding spots. my male is about a half inch bigger then my female. they have been together for about 3 weeks. the male just chases the female around. is this breeding behavior or is he just trying to kill her. if it is breeding behavior how much longer will it take them to spawn

need help plzz

If hes not killing her its breeding behavior and it shouldn't take too long. I put my never before breeded pair in a 40 with only one pot and within a few days there were eggs. They all hatched and raised very easily.

Here are some options:
1. Turn up the heat on the tank to 80
2. Separate the two fish for a couple of days with a divider
3. Throw in some live food or dither fish

Good luck!

also she doesnt seen to interested in him, should i get another female or what

also how long do the fry have to be with there parents, when could i remove them?

I remove my fry as soon as they are free swimming, bout a week old. I then feed them crushed flake mixed with a little bit of tank water.

Okay, thanks for the help everyone

You can also leave the fry with the parents, cons are notoriously great parents and will protect their young from anything, including your hand ;) fun behavior to watch
