as most here probably know, back in January my 10 year wait on getting some dels finally came to an end when I got two from Oliver at Belowater.
I asked for a male and female and got in two 6" fish. The slightly larger one I was positive was a goner he looked so bad, unable to stay upright, ragged fins, no colour. The next day he was much better, and the following day just looked a little beat up.
Fast forward two months, and I now have a 8" female and 9" male, both looking incredible.
So tonight I was cruising around the site here and noticed the male swimmin back and forth at the one ind of the tank. He was doing a circuit around a large bolbitis plant and the driftwood it was attached to.
After about an hour of this, the female came over and did the exact same thing for about 5 minutes, then took off, and he was back at it for a bit before swimming off to patrol the tank. At this point I grabbed the stool and plopped myself in front of the tank.
After returning to his plant, the female joined him and nuzzled his anal fin, which immediatley cupped to her touch.
At this point I'm pretty sure they are now courting. It's very different than the behaviour my old sens used to do, but I am positive they are getting ready to breed.
Anyone here ever breed their dels, and if so, how long was the courtship before they actually bred?
I'll be checking out the tank first thing in the morning to see if there are any suprises. :)

Wow, uncharted territory for most of us. Most of my males exhibit breeding behaviour but not the females.

Keep us posted!!

Good Luck

Subbed to thread, Keep us posted and if you can some pictures of their activity! :)

The male is starting to look frustrated.
He fixes up his wood and plant, brings the female over, she looks at and swims off.
I swear I can her.
"You expect me to raise my kids in THIS dump? The walls are totally the wrong colour, there are holes in the roof, and just look at the water all over the place!"
