Um I think the female was picking off the bad eggs, Try leaving them in with the parents right up until the start hatching, They were probably unfertilized.
I think so too.
She might of knew something you did not.
I'd try and give the parents a try at it a few times.

I would think its the same as breeding ebjd`s, and to get the best fry`s you need 2 "normal" GBR`s (ideally not releated to each other) and 2 Electric GBR`s (again, ideally not related to each other).

I whole heartedly agree and I applaud anyone who takes this step to produce healthier Blue Rams...

that is not true about the EB rams they are fine to spawn with each other.

You are correct in the fact that two Blue Rams can spawn and produce offspring…

But sibling to sibling inbreeding is risky business and yields negative results. By breeding sibling Blue Rams you are pushing this morph down the same road that the Blue Dempseys have gone down. Taking more responsible steps now will result in stronger Blue rams for generations to come.

I hope people learn from the mistakes we made with Blue Dempseys and do not compromise this morph…

i dont see what would be wrong if you just ahd a male/female elctric blue pair and didnt breed the siblings, just had the parants and sold off the babies, why would you have a problem?

Thanks-sorry if im being dumb!
Matt

I had a pair of electric blue rams that laid eggs several times. half the time I let them take care of them which they did and the rest of the time I did the meth blue thing with an air stone. never once had any fry. I think this genetically twisted fish has a history of infertility. btw ive been paying $7 a fish for them since about a year ago. I guess if someone will give you $15 for fry more power to you feed off of the ill informed. I have a female that lays eggs frequently if you are interested in strengthening your genetic line she is for sale.

so it would be b est to get 2 pairs in there and electric blue and a normal colour fry?

would 2 pairs be ok in a 100L juvenile discus tank?

Thanks
Matt

He meant your pair are siblings.

ah so you wouldnt be able to get 2 electric blue rams from the same batch, you'd have to go to different shops to get them becuase if you got them from one shop they could be brother and sister?

so one normal and one blue ram is the way to go?

Thanks
Matt

I actually went to a fish store i started visiting a few times... The person there wasnt too familar with the electric blue rams, so looking at the price tag i asked him to point out the blue rams for 7$ as opposed to the 30$ electric blue's

to my luck he pointed at the electric blue rams... so i quickly asked him to bag up 3 of them for me for a total of 21$ :)
