I breed con's as feeders for my Jag's.
I have a pair breeding in my sump and after about 2 weeks I scoop up what I can and throw them in the main tank, then the cons breed again. It works out perfect, and I never have any cons that get away, the Jags eventually get them. Once your Cichla get big, if your fed up with the cons, you could thrown in the adult cons one at a time and the Cichla will eat them.
