I don't mean to sound stupid but what does frt stand for?

Welcome To MFK!!!

Don't feel stupid. This is an infrequently seen turtle species that happens to get discussed on these boards quite often.

FRT - Fly River turtle aka PNG - Pig nosed turtle aka Carettochelys insculpta. Grows to about 35lbs. Fully aquatic species.

I currently own 2 frts.I think i have a pair according to the sexing pics online that ive seen.Me and buddy who also owns a frt are gonna build a pond and try to breed these turtles. My frts are both a lil under 10" and my friends is about half the size.We know we have a couple a yrs left for them to get to the right size but we will start building the pond now and try get some more turltes and get as much info as possible. We will also try to contact the bronx zoo for more info.

there's a shop in my area that is keeping two FRTs in a 200 gallon pool. one is about a foot long cara length and the other a bit smaller. they seem to be getting along fine.
