im thinking about breeding convicts as feeders for my arowana. i needs some help.
1)is there a age/size when they breed
2)how long does the process take (point A to B)
3)how many eeg/frys
4)what tank size
anything you know about breeding convict

A 20 gallon tank will do for 1 pair.and they breed like rabbits i hear.

1. At around 6 months/ around 1.5+ inchs
2. Eggs after a week/ Hatch 3 days later - 20 days to feeder size(depending on size you like for your arow
3. I breed mine in both a 10 and a 20 gallon

All i do is add water and a male and female and presto. Ive got them coming out my ears. They make great feeders. My cichlids love them

Also provide 1 clay pot in the tank and little or no decor and they should lay them inside the pot.

One other note: Syphon out the fry/wigglers after 1 week and place them in a 10 gal grow out tank. Use a sponge filter for the easy/cheap way
