Breeding in a 29 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cool thanks. I'm really leaning towards the jewels, but how many should i get for a 29 gal. What lake in Africa are they from(Malawi etc.)

Shelldwellers would be pretty cool. The only bad thing (which could turn into a good thing) is that they are somewhat expensive for such small fish. About $7 each is common.

I had the best luck with Tanganikan's Lamp Brichardi, and also Lake Maliwi's Lemon Yellow Labidochromis. Very good parents and as mouthbrooders they are fun to watch too.

Jack Dempseys, Convict Cichlids, pretty much any smallish fish. Angelfish, Discus. They can be done in there too. What do you like?
a pair of dempseys is way to much for a 29 i would try either firemouths or jewels both are awesome fish

I am going to try shell dwellers or some kind on small Tanganyikan cichlid in the 29 gal. This will probably come later this summer when i get some money and can get a sump and some other things.

Good for you! I always thought it would be cool to try, but I've never got around to it. Let me know how it goes!
