breeding in a 55 gal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im thinking towards mbuna which species could i have and what ratio of male to female could i have of all the same species in the tank

Personally for me. I just got 4 Flowerhorn babies. Hoping one turns out to be a mail and female that way i could breed them.

I've seen them breed in a 45. If you get them with good color and stuff. They can go for over 1000. not trying to promote another site but you can see what i am talking about at www.aquabid.com type in flowerhorn in the seach and scroll down a little.

Good Luck

you could just breed a bunch of fancy guppies
im sure there are a lot of people who would be willing to buy them from you off craigslist or something

Guppies are your best bet if you want to turn any kind of profit at all in a single tank breeding operation. Beyond that you might try yellow labs. Truth be told though just because your dad pays doesn't mean it costs nothing.. that's your inheritance he'll be spending! More than that, as mentioned before, with just one tank you will never really be able to make any serious money. I'd strongly reccomend you go with guppies.. not only are they the most likely to make you money, if you've never bred anything before you'll have a hard time being successful with any more advanced species. Not that mbuna are difficult to breed or anything but stripping mouthbrooders of their eggs can be difficult for the most experienced keepers at times.
