i am considering getting another jag for my 120. i want to breed jags. I already have one about six inches, I dnt know it if is male or female i will try to get a pic. i think its male though. is it too late,? is my jag too large to introduce a mate? also can aybody post a pic of their own male/ female jag so i can try to classify mine.
thank you very much.

umm i didnt even notice all the other threads. 120 is too small? i thought it wasn't

120g will be fine for a pair, just keep a divider handy.

I wouldn't let the one you have grow to much larger before you get the other, as they are harder to pair up as they muture.

Good luck.

ok i looked over some old posts and im almost completely sure i have a male. now how big do u think i shood buy a female?

Your jag is def not too big to pair up as i have a 5" female that i recently paired up with a 12" male and they took about a day to pair up and im just waiting for eggs, since they are digging pits and the female is full of eggs now. Anyways you should probably get a similar sized male maybe a little bigger than she is. And a 120 is enough space for a pair. Good luck.

You will be fine with that tank. One of my Jag pairs have bred twice in the past 2 months in my overtocked(overfiltered) 125g. I have about 200 fry in a seperate tank and about 75 free swimmers in the 125g w/ parents. Unfortunately I don't have a place for any more fry so they will be dinner for my larger Red Devil/Midas fry.

a 120 is fine for a breeding pair, but you need to be careful when introuducing a mate,
mine were extremely hostile to eachother, keep a divider on hand while introducing the female,
try raiseing the water temp, a couple of degrees when they are used to each other,
this may help coax them into breeding. and try to get a female the same size as the male.

my breeding pair, 14" F0's
