Not quite sure who to tag Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 dan518 dan518 ?

Agree with Dan.
It looks like an adolescent male about to lose the mid lateral line and be overcome with the mottled spotting shown in adults.
Nice fish.

So all three fish I kept are males . Just my luck . I really thought the biggest one was a female. Guess I'll keep looking for one . Thanks guys

Hi I’m new to the page and recently acquired a pair of breeding jags male is 9 to 10 inches female is 7 to 8 inches these have been a breeding pair from the person I got them from. I have them in a 144 half circle tank and for the first several weeks they shared the same 3 stacked log decor and hid in there together. Now my concern is that the female has been pushed out of the decor and now hiding in the top corner of the tank the male will come out and nudge her and see her but no serious aggression and goes back to the decor once she tried to go back in there with him and he aggressively chased her off but since then it’s like he’s coming out to check on her! She looks healthy I do water changes every Friday so tomorrow I will be doing a water change I guess my question is what is this behavior? Should I be concerned? If I find eggs or babies during water change do I leave it be or remove the male or female? I also have a few other fish in the tank with them 2 small Midas and 2 small green Texas they don’t bother them at all! I could remove the other fish and put them in my 30 gallon tank if you think this is breeding behavior
