Breeding L200s?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Two more L200s joined the group today. One is a hifin, the other a lowfin, but the lowfin is a far southern variant, and very light in color. The hifin is dark, but has a great fin. Pics up as soon as they come out...

Looking at two of my older L200s, I am seeing some sexual dimorphism, and it appears I may have another pair. Now I need to get a cave in their tank.

hey I missed the 2 new additions! How many of the Baryancistrus:Hemiancistrus is that now? Not that breeding either wouldn't be a good enough achievement, but really hope you can get some success out of the B. demantoides. Glad you got a pairing of the old couple!

Currently in the tanks is 1 Bary, and 3 hemi's. Waiting for more availability to add more.

There is a thread on PC with a tank (a quite beautiful one at that) has been set up specifically for H. subviridis and there has been one (unsuccessfull) spawn so far.

Worth a look for the aquascaping alone

good luck with your attempts
I have had a successful spawning, but the parents did not survive a filter failure, and the eggs succumbed to fungus.

I wish you luck on your endeavor! I would love to attempt to breed L200’s or any L# for that matter. My limited space and lack of time, I am a double major student. (Biology and Chemistry, aquatic sciences specific) My actual living space is only 300 sq. ft.(+ an itsy bitsy kitchen and bathroom), how sad. My standard 55 gallon takes up more than half of one wall. Most people have one room the size of my living room and bedroom combined. I seriously contemplated throwing out my only chair in the place and replacing it with a nice 310 gallon cube, so far I still have a chair to sit in……

Update on the group. Just added another to the group today, one nice 4" SL Baryancistrus demantoides. Pics up of the group later.
