Breeding my convicts... NEED HELP!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bred convicts for about 2 or 3 years and something you should do is take out all but one male and one female. They WILL pair up and WILL breed. Nothing special, just keep the temp around 78 - 80 you are guaranteed fry.

You need a maximum of 2 convicts in a 29. Nothing more. 10 potential breeder convicts in a 29 is suicide. Remove all but the best looking male and female.

Thats the way it was with my last cons. I wish I hadnt sold them. I have 2 males and a female in a 75g along with a firemouth and a BP. All are 3"+ and no pairs. They have been together for almost a year now.

okay well to suffice all we have a 120 gallon also so i think i'll take the bigger ones out and put them in our big tank and leave my big male and the brightest female.. she's got beautiful coloring bright orange belly yellow here or there blue and teal in her fins.. she's gorgeous.. and we'll see how things work out.. thank you all for the advice...

ps does it matter the difference in size as far as mating goes male and female??? my male is pretty big ... but i know for a fact that there are TWO females that have had fry before.. what does this mean.. STILL WAITING FOR SOME FISHY HUMPING.... i thought about playing a lil MARVIN ***E.. hahahahaha <3 thanks in advance!

usually when a male digs and makes couple of nests and the female will find the best place to lay her eggs trust me give it atleast a week. my convicts took 3 days to dig the nests the female took 2 more days to find a nice spot and layed her eggs.
