Hmm, 10% daily water changes, that's not too hard if you can be persistent. I already do 30-50% water changes twice aweek.
My ph in the tank my Xingu is in is 7.2, but that can be reduced chemically.
That was a helluva link, Poly. It gives me an idea. Maybe Xingus can breed readily if people have the patience to raise them to maturity and have clean acidic water. The offspring are brightly colored and should be easy to sell, even to LFSs. This is the direct opposite of many cichlids whos' colors are enhanced with age. This could be one of those rare cichlids the average person could breed and make a profit relatively quicklly.
Me personally, I'd need more tank space to do this. So it's out of the question for now. But I might have to make another trip to Aquarium Adventure in Columbus in the next few months to pick up some smaller, hopefully female Xingus. They have a lot of them. But that's only if I think there's achance I can aquire a new large aquarium in 2008.
