A 55 is to small for EVEN ONE oscar. Oscars create huge bioloads that a 55 just can't handle. And that isn't even the biggest problem. 55's are only 12 inches wide, oscars can get to 16 inches. 16 is larger than 12 FYI.

x2 ... it can be done but it is def not ideal.

People I'm only trying to breed them.....one lives there in the 55 g and the other bigger one has it's own 90 g (it's my dads) I have read all over the Internet and they all say a 55 g would work....that's why they are there. I'm just asking if there is anything I can do to kick start the breeding !

55 gallons is to small. And no. Just keep the water clean and feed them quality food. Which you should be doing anyway.

okay, so besides the "how many gallons needed" issue. ..... Oscars can go through this lip locking, tail shaking, and other aggression towards eachother, but it doesn't always mean they are close to breeding, and it doesn't mean you have a male and a female. It is almost impossible to tell, until you have eggs hatching. So all you can really do is keep the temperature right and the water quality prestine with lots of waterchanges, and hope for the best.

You would have a much better shot at breeding two O's in a much larger tank though.

good luck.

go figure the OP is like the owner of a puppy mill, who cares about their conditions I just want them to hump so I can sell their babies...

yeah put them both in the 90g instead of cramming the poor things in a 55g, you took advice from non reptuable website(s) and your not taking the advice from a reptuable one, are you serious??? I have a 150 gallon and I only have one oscar in it because everybody on here said if I had two they'd kill each other, but now stuffing 2 in a 90g is fine?

My oscars I've had since they were 2'' are in a 125 g 9'' 7'' , they sleep together, never been apart showing signs of breeding , moving med to lg st ones , tail dancing , then again I might be wrong 90 g or 55 g its just wrong .

Once Oscars hit 10 or 11 inches they start becoming territorial. Watch out for that, sometimes they will live together just fine, other times they will murder each other.
