Breeding pair for 60g Hex tank

just acquired a 60g hex tank and I was thinking about a breeding pair of cichlids for it. What do you all think I could get away with? The tank already has an upside down catfish and a small bristlenose pleco in it... Thanks for the Ideas

I'm breeding convicts in my hex right now and they are awesome by far the coolest cichlid I've had and easy to breed.

Try some jack Dempsey they really cool easy to breed and get around 8-10 inches

angels, discus maybe gold severums... get a taller medium sized cichlid pair.

Gonna be hard to breed substrate spawners with a pleco and a catfish. Hex tanks are great for discus and angels tho. I'm assuming the tank is taller than it is wide?

The tank is 15" on each side and 24" tall. My gf doesnt want angels and I dont think i can keep the water quality top notch for discus. thanks for the suggestions keep them coming. I dont think a pair of cichlids would have a hard time fending off a bristlenose pleco and upside down catfish...just saying

Imo JDs and Salvini would be trouble in a tank with that footprint. It's just not long enough, they really need at least 4ft. Better off sticking with con's, sajica..firemouths may be iffy in that footprint, but I'd consider them if it were my tank. Why not apisto's? Or one of the smaller Aquidens species?

A 60 hex is 27 x 24 x 29...he cant do jds in that?
