I won't be getting a tank anytime soon, but I'm just curious. What single pair of CA/SA cichlids would best utilize a 75g tank? All opionions welcome!

The carpintis is slightly smaller and has larger spots.

Amphilophus lyonsi. Just pick up a male waiting on a female. very nice looking fish and the smallest of the Amphilophus i believe

wow it's like you read my mind. That's exactly what I was thinking. What exactly is the difference between the two?
Cyano is a true texas cichlid. Carpintis is a more southern species, and looks very similar to a true texas with more brighter and larger spots. Cyano's can get very aggressive towards eachother so keep that in mind..

ok so texas, lyonsi, and salvinis. Don't salvinis stay small? Anymore suggestions? Could you do JD's in a 75g?
Male Sals get around 8" generally, just takes em a while to get there.

Jacks would work too..

Are you planning on keeping the pair in there forever? If not, there's so many options you could do that would last a while..

You can also put a pair of Red Tiger Motaguense in the 75g.
