i bought 2 red wolf fish , got them into, and o thought i would attempt fate. and see how they did, well i throw them into a a 35grow out. until the 90 is ready once again. I fed them, they ate right away. now the 2 wolfs will not leave each other side, in what i think is the female has kinda made a dip in sand and is just laying in it. and the male is behind her. where ever she goes he goes. the female is all gray and shows no coloring. for being a red, the male is much more slender and has very bright coloring showing. they both are the same size around 4-5inchs.

what are your thoughts and should i try to breed em?

wolf fish are pretty hard to breed. Never heard it happen. you'll need abigger tank first.

is ur wolf fish an ery peru? I have a red wolf at 7 inches that doesn't have ANY red on her.

not peru, i thought so at first but there are not tan. but these to are not leaving each other sides. the males keeps doing a weird thing with this skin on his chin or lower jaw like a frog would when he is by her.

dave at dave tropic fish has a breeding pair of mala's his breed in a 10gal tank and now they breed in a 75 but he has them boxed in then moves the male away after the deed is done. seems tight areas, lighing at 80 temp is the way. he is just laying on her lol, now they are swimming around together for about 2 hours. then lay down next to each other or on each other.

im excited lol not in a sexual way, but manly becuase i have 2 reds in the same tank that are getting along

nice. good luck:)

At the size yours are they are probably not sexually mature yet. Juviniles of many fish live together to help survive. More eyes to look out for predators.

Good luck with them, if anything you might have two that get used each other and co exist together.

In my opinion, I think they are both ready to breed. Most fish breed when half grown.

And the behavior reminds me of some breeding wolf fish I saw on youtube. They should both color up a lot right before and after they lay eggs and the female will be noticeably slimmer afterwards. Feed them well also!

Keep an eye on the pit, and if you see any eggs, I think your best bet would be to leave them in with the adults.

i was told if they do breed to remove or divide the male from the female and leave the female with the eggs

either way, if they live together and dont breed im happy, i have 2 red wolfs in one tank, whats not to like lol
