Great pics and set up nice to see breeding snappers.

I would think the 300 galls freeze solid during winter, do you use pond heating device?

only a bubbler to keep it from totally freezing.

That's awesome that they can act like wild turtles in a captive environment year after year. I wonder how long they can keep that up (breeding) being that they are pretty long lived? The female is probably has more exposure to sunlight than the male. He probably stays under plants and shaded areas is why he doesn't have any algae on his shell.

Pretty owesame men:) The only thing in the pond arrangement that I dont like is the dolls house in the setup of thouse monster turts:grinno:

The old man who owns the pond built that little cabin. It's a replica of a real cabin somewhere north of here. It has working lights and the paddlewheel feeds a small stream full of hyacynth and water lettuce. At least he has good enough taste to keep snappers. :grinno:

That is a pretty cool set up. you gotta love snappers. I am surprised that they do so well in such a shallow pond so far north though. Is the water heated?

Water is not heated, and almost constantly shaded.
