Ive had my trimac for about a year, i got him from my lfs because they knew i was into bigger fish. I got a call from them asking if i wanted it because it was too aggressive, so i got him for free. Picked up a nice blood parrot from the same place for $10 about 6 inches. Now that i know the parrot is female i would like to breed her with the male trimac. The trimac is currently in a 75 alone, the parrot is in a 125 with 2 oscars and a gobi that is about 10 inches....How do i go about breeding the 2?

You got a true trimac for free? That's pretty sweet. I would like to see pics.

Yup a free trimac! what happened was a customer brought it in with a new guy at my lfs and said he couldnt keep it anymore, after a day the trimac was so aggressive it damaged quite a few other fish. So i got the call to come get him if i wanted him. Being a full size trimac its hard for my lfs to keep full grown fish as they take up a lot of room for a long time

Get a divider, egg-crate, for the 75. Put a small dish on the side with the BP ,next to the egg-crate.Terracotta plates for house plants work well.Put the BP in with the Trimac, on the side with the plate. When(if) she lays eggs, the Trimac can fertilize them through the egg-crate.

That sounds like a good idea, that way i dont have to worry about the trimac beating u the BP.

Why not breed true trimacs? Instead of breeding him with a BP. BP's are ugly.

You got a point if I had a female true trimac I would gladly breed the two, and if I also had the tank space to house a full grown trimac. Number 2 I am into hybrids and I would like to see the offspring.

To each his own. Just please do not sell the fry.
