breeding project 1: Kamfamalau x Red Devil

I've had a male midas spawn with a female red dragon but he ate the eggs and tried to eat her too lol. So what are you breeding for body shape, color I don't think I've seen a "devil horn" before. F1 generation hybrids will be all over the place most will display 1 parents style.
So you are expecting something other than a low grade fish? Im not saying you won't get any good fish, But I'd be surprised if you get a single good one. But our definitions of good may be different. Maybe your goal is a small koked, triangle bodied, fader with a few pearls. I'm just going by what Ive seen vicariously through the Hybrid forums over 2 years. But real experience is better. Go post this on a Forum dedicated to all aspects of FlowerHorns and ask them if this will yield something other than low grade faders.
you could breed two of the most awsome FH's and get bad fry. also i would agree with fishfreak if the male was the redevil
no point being a snob, a flower horn is a flower horn, if you both love and keep them there should be a brotherly friendship between you. no need to segregate eachother based on the "quality" of your fish. no different than those "I have a $100,000 car" guys.

^ I don't think it was like that its just the whole hybrid breeding thing is best when you have a point or end goal of what you're breeding towards. Unless the intention of the fry from this were going to used for some further breeding purpose they will be low quality fh. It sucks buying a bad flowerhorn.
not really a breakthrough they have been crossing the fish for awhile now few years i think....unfortunatly i pulled my Red Devil out for a blue zz and they paired up instantly...I'll have to find another Male FH for her!!!!!!!
I just find it so interesting how hyribidising works and what you can get from it.
I see flowerhorns all the time and although beautiful I like it when people try to breed species of cichlids together to create new breeds.
means there is something else out there besides BP's and FHs and their various intermingling sub groups.

I too would like to see new breeds srains or entire kinds of hybrids being developed. I guess there could potentially be nice fish from this. Its just when people breed without a specific goal in mind, they aren't sure which ones to cull and which to be bred further. I know I don't have a FH but get into a conversation with an Asian FH breeder
