Thanks
Deadeye Ssimi.druk - Hillstream loaches, especially the genus Sewellia are a fun, and easy, breeding project. They do not require torrential water current and actually breed in the quieter areas of the tank.
Get a decent boulder pile and a powerhead for some flow to play in but not blow them away. feed well and algae grow wild. Make a small pile of larger pebbles here and there in the tank so fry feel safe. And do weekly water changes depending on tank size. Substrate is optional. They will breed with or without it.
Fry can be raised in a 10gal bare bottom with a sponge filter and are happy.
this is an important part of hillstream in my opinion. If you wane go hillstream you should make a system so that the water current doesnt bounce back from the glass but goes under the substrate back to the pump.
They are quite easy to breed but algue is very important. So making sure you have the right algue is important. A picture of the tank your thinking of would help.
Most hillstream fish are quite terretorial so a lot of rocks are important(and also for algue growth)
