That's awesome! That's alot of money in baby P's.
you actually don't make much at all, if anything from a spawning of natts... you won't see much profit unless you are set up with multiple breeding pairs and are extremely efficient with each batch of fry, and even then, it takes a while to make your money back from the investment in all of the equipment.

breeding natts is really only something that the average hobbyist should do for fun, becuase if you go into it thinking that you are gonna make a ton of money, you will be extremely disappointed.

Great post. Congrats.

Thanks for an awesome post.

I agree that it's on a good track towards being stickied, very valuable info here, very nice documentation. But could you address some crucial aspects such as

  • What induced mating behavior (for some species that's a couple of massive water changes, for others it's adding live food to their staple diet, for yet others is elevating water temperature or lowering water levels)?
  • What are your water parameters (pH, kH, gH, nitrates, phosphates, temperature)
  • additives such as peat, vitamins, minerals
  • Specifics on the set-up of your tank (filtration, lighting - light/dark times, decor, etc)
  • how did the rest of the shoal take the pairing up?
  • When did you wean your fry off of brine shrimp?
I am sure that there will be more questions coming from others, once we have all gotten over the absolutely awesome documentation, and as others are thinking as to how to modify their systems to mimic yours for success.

Any info you have, bring it on :)

Thanks,
HarleyK

Wtf is wrong with bumping a old thread? At least he bumped a good one. Bump away bomber.

you use the search feature and bump an old thread and you get flamed, you make a new thread on an old topic you get flamed, it's a lose lose situation. i just find it amusing when someone's responding to an inactive member who won't be around to answer anything
