No problem. It probably would have been easier just to see if the convict had an orange belly though...:)
So you have a con texas pair? (sorry for the derail...)

To answer your question c_b, the large one with the pointy tube is a male, 100%.

Yes unfortuneately...I want to get him a nice gal in their for him becasue he
is only 4" now and already spawning:headbang2. i want to get them their own tank, been wanting to turn the 90 into a breeding tank for them (male female texas) and getting a 180+ for my others and some new species I really want, in fact I'm very close to doing it if I get the hours I'm hoping for the next two weeks.:irked:

I have a 60g with a bunch of little cichlids in it and I do at least
10-15 gal a day. I turn everything off and BAM, change it really quick. It takes 10 min out of my day. My little fish must love it cuz thry are growin like weeds and I even have a small pair of festae in there that are in full on spawning colors.

I leave everything running, I don't think it does any harm and it's a little less trouble too. Of course, I can just turn off the power strip, but sometimes the filter spits out small particles after I turn it back on. I turn my heater to the side however to prevent from overheating...

I use a python which I hook up to the sink, and begin to vaccum gravel the substrate, and after I'm satisifed with my work on the gravel and just leave the siphon tube in there to suck the water out of my tank and into the sink. Once I have it as low as I want, I turn the drain on the python to make water pump back through it into the tank. If using a bucket just act the bucket is the sink.

and i am gonna do another waterchange tonite... my bigger FM that u guys say is male acts like a female while teh smaller FM that soppuse os a female acts like a male but the smaller FM dont have the pointy tube likethe bigger one has..
